Getting Ready for a
Remote Session
Before we embark on a remote support session, it's essential to prepare your computer and yourself for the process. This involves a few simple but crucial steps that will allow us to make the most of our time together. If you get hung up, don’t worry, we can work through these steps together.
Download Zoom
Zoom is my preferred way of connecting remotely, and the one most people are familiar with.

Click the button above to download Zoom for Mac
Open the Downloaded File: Once the download is complete, locate the file (usually in the 'Downloads' folder). The file should be named something like "Zoom.pkg". Double-click on this file to open it.
Install Zoom: A new window will open with a package icon in the middle. Double click on the package icon. This will start the Zoom Installer. Follow the instructions, clicking 'Continue' or 'Agree' as needed. You may be asked for your computer's password to authorize the installation. Enter it and click 'Install'.
Join the Meeting: Once the installation process is complete, you can click the meeting link in your confirmation email and/or calendar appointment

Give Zoom Permissions
Make sure Zoom has permission for Screen Recording and Mouse Control

Open System Preferences: Click on the Apple icon in the top-left corner of your screen and select 'System Preferences' from the dropdown menu.
Open Security & Privacy Settings: From the 'System Preferences' window, click on 'Security & Privacy'.
Navigate to Privacy Tab: At the top of the 'Security & Privacy' window, click on the 'Privacy' tab.
Unlock to Make Changes: If the settings are greyed out, click on the lock icon at the bottom left of the window. You will need to enter your computer's password and click 'Unlock' to make changes.
Select Screen Recording: In the left sidebar of the 'Privacy' tab, scroll down and click on 'Screen Recording'.
Allow Zoom: You'll see a list of applications that have requested screen recording permissions. Check the box next to 'Zoom'. You may need to scroll down if you don't see it immediately.
Confirm Changes: A pop-up window will appear informing you that Zoom will not be able to record the contents of your screen until it is quit. Click 'Quit Now'. If you have a Zoom meeting open, you will need to restart it for these changes to take effect

Join the Session
Click the link in your email confirmation or in the calendar appointment (if you created one).
